 FAQ – EYELASH EXTENSIONS

  • I consider eyelash extensions an addiction! Un cafecito, a messy bun, and you’ll be ready to dominate the day. You’ll become obsessed with how fast your daily routine will be. Just imagine, having a natural look of mascara and eyeliner for two weeks. Our eyelash extension service accentuates what you currently have by using a customized technique. By taking individual “hair-like” synthetic fibers made in different thicknesses, curl, and length, we apply an extension to each natural lash. You’ll never feel any discomfort or look clumpy ever again. So get ready to toss that pesky mascara tube!

  • Here at FACEXCAPE, we use the highest quality of fibers called PBT short for Polybutylene Terephthalate. Made in Korea, these fibers are true to weight and consistent in color, diameter, and length. Consistency is key, am I right?

  • All faces have unique identifiers, so before your appointment, you’ll be asked to send in a passport like picture. The photo will help us evaluate a couple of key features; your face shape, eye shape, and unique symmetry line. Your symmetry line is one of a kind, like a fingerprint! After our evaluation, you’ll have a unique lash map. That is our artistry, my friend!

  • Depending on the treatment you get, the duration and maintenance will vary. Classic lashes will last two weeks before you need to touch them up. Volume lashes will lash about two and a half weeks before you need to touch them up. Mega Volume will last you three weeks before you need to touch them up.

  • Yes, I guarantee you they will. Your natural lashes are constantly “falling out” even without extensions. Did you know your natural lashes shed a couple of times a year just like the hair on your head, don’t believe me ask your hairstylist! The better question is, will the eyelash extensions be the cause of my natural lashes falling out? The answer is NO when done correctly, of course. Here at Facexcape, we take natural lash health seriously. Something to keep in mind, your lashes may shed due to weather, medication, and stress can cause premature fallout for any hair follicle, but eyelash extensions will never be the cause here.

  • Yes! I like to advise all clients if possible, to please come showered and hair washed, with nothing but a clean bare fresh face. You may bring headphones to listen to an audiobook, or your favorite jams, which will deepen your relaxation. We also have a playlist of the day, and you can add your favs to the FACEXCAPE playlist on Spotify.

  • No! No mascara, and no eyeliner. Wearing mascara or eyeliner on eyelash extensions is like keying a Maserati. Makeup products are mostly oil-based, which can break down the adhesive bond between the natural lash and eyelash extensions. Don’t pay for premium lashes to purposely damage them. If you do decide you’re one of the few who can get away with it, please do not show up to your appointment with makeup on. Make sure to clean your lashes on the daily.

  • The best you can do is wash your lashes with a lash cleanser (we sell our own). Cleansing should get the makeup out, and don’t be alarmed if some of the extensions fall out. Please remember mascara and eyeliner breakdown the adhesive, so expect your lashes to prematurely fall out when makeup is worn.

  • Nope! It’s a 30-minute painless removal and our cream remover smells amazing!

FAQ – LASH LIFT

  • A lash lift is a mild chemical process that is used to change the structure and texture of your natural lashes. The overall curl and look will vary depending on the size of the shield used. Your natural lashes can be lifted more or less dramatically, depending on your personal preference. A lash lift is essentially a modern version of a lash perm without the perming rods.

  • Claro que si! In many ways, extensions are fibers dipped in adhesive placed onto one of your natural lashes. The lash lift doesn’t add any length or thickness to your lashes. With a lift, we take your lashes and semi-permanently curl them without any adhesive or fibers on them.

  • If you are pregnant, you must be in your second or third trimester to get a lift treatment.

If you have little natural eyelashes, this treatment will make the gaps between your lashes more noticeable.

You cannot get this treatment if you have preexisting eye(lid) conditions such as chronic dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, or ocular rosacea.

After you get Lasik surgery, you should wait a minimum of six months from that procedure before you get a lift done.

If you have Trichotillomania, compulsive pulling or twisting hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes, you should not get this treatment.

You should not get this treatment if you have sensitive eyes.

You cannot get this treatment done while undergoing chemo treatments, or if you’ve had chemo treatments within the past year.

  • No, if they are done properly! A technician who is trained and skilled will ensure proper lash lift procedures are followed.

  • Most of the time, yes, however, it can be challenging if the lashes aren’t even long enough to bring up and back on to the shield. If when you come in, and I see that your lashes are too short, too fine or delicate, I will advise that you do not get the Lift.

  • Timing may vary depending on how long and coarse your natural eyelashes are and if your lashes will be tinted. A procedure without tinting is about 45 minutes and about 60 minutes if you decide to tint after the lifting process.

  • A lash lift can last anywhere between six to eight weeks. Results vary from client to client depending on their lash growth cycle. Some circumstances may cause the lift to drop or weaken prematurely, such as swimming any harsh products used or constant heat. If you find your lift does not last the full two months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of seven days of the initial treatment, with the use of lash botox or after four weeks for a re-lift.

  • A lash lift will naturally drop after roughly two months of your initial service. As your natural lashes start to shed, the new one growing in will grow back to its natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.

  • Yes, but we advise not to touch your lashes for at least 24 hours after your treatment, which is why we always recommend tinting after the lift. You’ll find that there is no need for mascara, but if you wish to make your lashes fuller, use a non-waterproof mascara as the removal of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift. Try to be thorough when you remove the mascara, so you do not leave a dry layer of chemicals on your lashes. The results are weak lashes that are prone to breakage and excess shedding. Do not wear mascara for two days before your appointment.

  • No, that is the point of this service. This treatment gives a much better result than using a curler, But more importantly, using one may weaken, damage, or even pull out your natural lashes.

What is the aftercare for newly applied lash lifts?

    These steps are SUPER IMPORTANT:

    1. Do not get lashes wet for 24 hours after application.

    2. Avoid excessive amounts of extreme heat (steam rooms/saunas) for 48 hours.

    3. No sleeping on your face for 24 hours.

    4. The process will need to be repeated in six to eight weeks when results start to fade.

    5. Clean your lashes daily, using a mild cleanser with tea tree extract. Air dry and then brush out add mascara if you please!
